Powicana Farm (West Coast)

Our little French family fell in love with Mendocino and its wines, and our story is a bit of a fairy tale. Here, we found again our Mediterranean climate, and a superb Rhone varietal in the historical black grape of Mendocino. On the edge of a plateau above Lake Mendocino, we discovered our piece of paradise in our Petite Sirah vineyard. We farm using natural techniques in harmony with nature, with the forests and streams surrounding the farm. We aim at producing the purest and highest quality grapes while building up fertile soils and increasing biodiversity on the farm.

Park Farming Organics (West Coast)

Park Farming was founded in 1980 with processing tomatoes as the main crop. Through time the company perspective on farming shifted toward a more environmentally sensitive attitude, culminating in the transition to organic acreage in 1992. The change in company practices included more thoughtful crop rotation, extensive use of cover crops, gentler tillage methods, and fertility inputs that would build a balanced soil, promoting life in the growing medium. The soil has evolved from almost sterile to one rich in earthworms and microbial life. The natural balance in the soil helps keep plants free from disease and pests.

Legacy Farm (East Coast)

We began practicing Natural Agriculture in February 2023 at a location 13 miles from the Shumei Pennsylvania Center. Our cultivated area covers 0.7 acres, and we grow 15 different varieties of vegetables throughout the year.

The vegetables we grow are sold primarily to Shumei members and friends. We also offer mail-order sales during the summer and fall for customers who live farther away.
