Circles of Light: Growing Together in Sacred Community

What gives us the ability to explore our inner and outer worlds with joy and wonder? Of course, as spiritual beings, it is our relationship to the Divine. But we are also living, breathing human beings – and as worldly beings, we receive irreplaceable strength from the roots of our tribes. We live our lives as essential members of many diverse communities with our fellow beings. Each of us has various families to which we belong all at once. This multilayered variety of tribes is even greater across people. And yet, we are not divided by this diversity, rather, we are strengthened and united by it.

The richness and loving support of our many families in Shumei America and beyond give us the energy and confidence to move through our lives with the mindset of a curious explorer. From this deep sense of communal belonging, we naturally begin to explore our worlds with less fear and with more joy, curiosity and love. As we travel through the world, we expand ever outward. And as we face challenges that force us to grow, we expand ever inward. These simultaneous inner and outer expansions that are supported by the love of our spiritual families are what we call Circles of Light.
