The Shumei Arts Council promotes activities and events to build a better world where people experience beauty, harmony and creativity through the arts. For more than 25 years they have produced years of numerous activities that have included children’s concerts, Pasadena ArtNight activities, artist exhibitions, Makoto Taiko concerts, and chamber music concerts as well as premiers of original music by local composers.
This year’s April concert will feature the captivating and original music of Christopher Caliendo performed by The Caliendo-Barcellona Flute and Guitar Duo. The Caliendo – Barcellona Duo showcases the composer and guitarist Christopher Caliendo joined by flutist John Barcellona. Their performances masterfully blend a diverse range of Tango, gypsy, farandole, flamenco, jazz, classical, samba, bossa nova, and milonga styles of music that create an exhilarating fusion of global sounds.
A unique feature of any Caliendo – Barcellona Flute and Guitar recital is the storytelling that accompanies the music.
