Roots & Wings: Awakened Action

Last year, our Pasadena Anniversary theme was focused on spiritual awakening. But awakening is only the beginning of the spiritual journey. So what comes next? What happens once we have woken up and glimpsed our nature as spiritual beings in this physical world?

Ironically, what often happens is that physical challenges begin to appear and develop. Many of the old forms we previously inhabited in our lives become simply too contracted to let our beautiful spirits embody their inherent freedom in this world, and so we begin to experience the growing pains of evolution.

Although the breakdown of existing forms can be painful, it also creates new space, and frees up an immense amount of energy for the creation of something new. But how do we stay grounded, open-hearted, and imaginative enough to be able to use this profound opportunity for the creation of Heaven on Earth?

We go back to our roots. We go back to the basics – to the pure and simple spiritual practices that allow us to go deep inside and be present with ourselves in the light of the Divine. And from that alignment with God’s inherent love and peace, we can start to expand outward. We then connect with our sacred communities, with our loved ones, and with humanity at large – spreading our wings and inspiring others to fly with us into the next step of humanity’s evolution – into a new state of peace and love that we all fundamentally deserve.

So as you reflect on your own life, what are some of the roots that can keep you awake and aligned as you spread your wings?

Protecting Our Roots Together: Keeping Our Center Strong

After more than 3 decades of service, our beloved center is now in dire need of serious maintenance and upgrades, some of which are required by law. Therefore, in order to ensure that the Pasadena Center continues to be a safe and thriving place to be Shumei America’s physical roots, we are establishing a fundraising goal of $150,000 for the 33rd anniversary of Shumei America’s National Center. This includes over $100,000 of upgrades to the structure of our buildings that are required by fire code, as well as nearly $50,000 in replacing heating, cooling, and security systems that are now well past their lifespan and in need of urgent replacement.

FIRE CODE TOTAL EXPENSES: $109,750

The fire department requires these repairs. If we cannot pass our inspection, the fire department will report the center as unsafe and demand that we close our doors.

HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING TOTAL EXPENSES: $45,000

Units are over 30 years old, do not work reliably, and are not energy efficient.

SECURITY TOTAL EXPENSES: $4,900

Several security breaches and robberies have led to the need for a better system.
